Armed Robbery, Police Activity Punctuate Evening in Borough
A reported armed robbery and police activity all occurred in Bristol Borough Thursday evening.
An armed robbery at the Dollar General on Route 13 and police activity around Cleveland Street made for an interesting evening in Bristol Borough on Thursday.
According to emergency radio reports and a county dispatch official, police were summoned to the Dollar General along Route 13 (Bristol Pike) at around 5 p.m. for reports of an armed robbery.
An alert from the Breaking News Network, a service that monitors police radio transmissions, reported the robbery suspect was a "stocky white male" armed with a handgun. The suspect made away with $100 in cash, PhillyBurbs.com reported.
Local residents told Patch that police from Bensalem, Bristol Township and the state police were at the Dollar General assisting borough authorities.
On Wednesday evening, the Burger King, which is a half-mile from the Dollar General, was robbed by a gun-wielding suspect police described as a "stocky." The man got "spooked" and ran away without getting any money, police said.
A bit later Thursday evening, residents reported heavy police activity in the area of Cleveland Street.
Police had left the one-way street and quiet had returned by 8:30 p.m.
As of press time, borough police have not returned calls for comment from Patch.
