BTSD Superintendent Posts Holiday Letter
"The budget process begins again and we have no reason to believe it will be any less difficult this coming year than in the past two years."
A letter from the Bristol Township School District:
Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends:
The holiday season is always a time for reflection. We contemplate the triumphs, and most recently the tragedies, of the past year and ponder how to make the next year better, more productive, more thoughtful and caring.
At Bristol Township School District our administrators and faculty will be using the downtime to prepare for the next two quarters. There is a lot to think about. The budget process begins again and we have no reason to believe it will be any less difficult this coming year than in the past two years. Among other things, we must begin planning for a solution to the challenges presented by our aging infrastructure.
The cycle of testing starts in January with the Keystone Exams, a new set of assessments required by the state of Pennsylvania, which will replace the high school PSSAs. Throughout late winter and spring, middle and elementary students will take PSSAs. Much time and thought will be given to helping them prepare.
In March, our high school will be presenting the musical, Godspell. This will be the last school production for our renowned drama coach and teacher, Lou Volpe. In his 44 years with Truman, Mr. Volpe has led our school district to national acclaim for its theater program.
Then, in spring, there are the joyous rituals of proms and concerts, sports banquets and field days celebrating the joy of being young in a community and a nation that strives to give its offspring the best that life can offer. Graduation is the culmination with many teachers brushing back tears as they watch the young men and women that they have nurtured since early childhood, head off wiser and stronger toward new lives.
On behalf of all of us at Bristol Township School District, we wish you and your families a peaceful, joyful holiday season and a beneficial new year.
Superintendent, Bristol Township School District
