Bucks GOP Power Player Passes Away
Harry Fawkes, 83, grew up in Croydon. As chairperson of the Bucks County Republican Party for 40 years, he played an instrumental part in the election of Mark Schweiker and Jim Cawley to lieutenant governor.
Phillyburbs.com reports that former Bucks County Republican Party chairman and Croydon native Harry Fawkes died late Tuesday night at the age of 83.
Touted by the paper in 2000 as the most Influential Power Broker in Bucks County, Fawkes had a hand in the election of two lieutenant governors, Mark Schweiker in 1994 and Jim Cawley in 2010, the article states.
“I am incredibly fortunate and honored to have known Harry Fawkes," said Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick in a statement to the press." On a personal level, his friendship and advice made me a stronger public servant and a better person."
