Dr. Seuss Comes to Oxford Valley Mall
The mall will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Theodor Seuss Geisel's first-ever published children's book, "And To Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street."
Families are invited to celebrate Dr. Seuss and his first-ever published children's book at "75 Years of Imagination" at Oxford Valley Mall on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m.
The celebration—which is sponsored by Simon Kidgits Club, Dr. Seuss Enterprises L.P. and Random House Children's Books—marks the 75th anniversary of Theodor Seuss Geisel's "And To Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street."
According to an article on NPR, "[The book] was rejected 27 times," said Guy McLain, who works at the Springfield Museum in Geisel's Massachusetts hometown. But by a bit of chance, his life was changed and he started on the journey to become the Dr. Seuss we all know.

"He bumped into a friend ... who had just become an editor at a publishing house in the children's section," McLain explained in the NPR article. The friend took a look at the book, which was then published in 1937.
To commemorate his success and imagination, Oxford Valley Mall will bring "The Cat in the Hat" to life. Children will have the chance to meet the mischievous cat himself and enjoy a book reading with the character. Other Dr. Seuss characters will be roaming around the Mulberry Street-themed backdrop for photo opportunities and to interact with the children.

Seuss-themed arts and crafts will be available too. Children can create Mulberry Street bookmarks, crowns and tiaras, and they can also make "And To Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street" booklets to take home.
Then as a grand finale, the event will conclude with a parade through the mall, which will end at Sears Court. Children will be given goodie bags filled with treats and families will have the opportunity to purchase a 75th Anniversary Edition of the book.
