A contractor working on tile inside a home in the 200 block of Doone Road in the Fairless Hills section of Falls Township was alerted to a fire by a knocking sound Tuesday night, officials said.

The sound, which may have saved the contractor's life, was made by a fast-moving fire that started outside the house and quickly spread into the attic, Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said.

The home was in the final stages of being renovated and a family was expected to settle in the house in a few days time, Dippolito said.

The fire marshal said he is still investigating what caused the fire. However, it was determined the fire emanated from a pile of construction debris outside.

Emergency crews arrived to the house to find flames shooting out of the roof, Dippolito told Patch.

As firefighters began to leave the scene, yellow insulation could be scene hanging from the ceiling of the fire-wrecked house.

Crews from Fairless Hills, Falls, Levittown No. 2 and William Penn fire companies responded when the call went out just before 7 p.m. Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad also responded.

WhAt was the contractors name who burned down the house? That way we can decide if we would be interested in hVing our home remodeled and then have it destroyed and rebuilt again? This company should be banned from working on any homes from now on. Who puts contruction debris next to a house?

We don't know for sure if the contractor played any role in the fire. However, the fire did start in a waste pile near the house.

Obviously you've never worked a day of construction in your life. If there is no dumpster available, you place the debris outside of the house in a pile until it is picked up. To keep costs down, they probably intended on removing the pile with either a trailer or pickup truck. Now how the hell did the pile ignite is another question all together.

Dear concerned citizen before you go assuming that the fire is the contractors fault and destroy their reputation why don't you wait for the investigation to get finished

I know enough not to pile junk next to a house. I prefer to keep it near a fence line.. And thats called a irresponsible cheap contractor.. Iam going to say a tossed cigarette tossed into a flamable material. I have expeirence with lousy contractors who dont care what they do and dont even get the job done correctly.
