Levittown Home Destroyed By Fire

Homeowner saves mother and pets from home.

A Levittown woman tells Patch about her two-story home catching fire.

Homeowner Carol Parkinson told Patch she was outside her home at 48 Shellflower Road at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday when she noticed smoking coming from her garage.  

She said she then went into her home helped her mother, Liz Habermehl, her golden retriever, Kismet, two Chihuahuas and a lion-hair rabbit out to safety.

Although Parkinson said she thought about trying to retrieve her 2004 Lincoln LS from the garage, she was not able to.

Firefighters responded to the scene to help extinguish the blaze.

The fire destroyed Parkinson’s car, the garage and the second floor of the house. The rest of the home sustained heavy smoke damage.

Although there is no official word on the cause yet, the origin of the fire is though to have started in the garage, according to witnesses.
