In St. Peter's Square, Vatican City, the new leader of the Catholic church, Argentinian cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, makes his first appearance. He has taken the name Francis I.
He is the first Latin American pope to lead the church, as well as the first Jesuit priest.
