Mall to Host Two Events to Benefit Local Women

The Third Annual Big sMall Walk for Breast Cancer and a First Annual Moms Rock! Expo will be held Saturday.

Oxford Valley Mall is hosting two events on Saturday, Oct. 20 to benefit local area women. The Third Annual Big sMall Walk for Breast Cancer, which raises money for the Bott Cancer Center at Holy Redeemer Hospital, starts at 9 a.m. Additionally, the mall is partnering with 95.7 BEN-FM to host the First Annual Moms Rock! Expo—a day full of deals, activities and pampering, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To kick off the Big sMall Walk, Dr. Beth DuPree, director of the breast health program at Holy Redeemer and her colleagues Drs. Stacy Krisher and Catherine Carruthers of Comprehensive Breast Care Surgeons will offer attendees information on breast health beginning at 8 a.m. Following the event, Macy’s will provide free makeovers to attendees.

The event, sponsored by the Walking Company, consists of a two-mile course through the first floor of Oxford Valley Mall. Those who wish to participate may pre-register by visitinghttps://www.holyredeemer.com/Main/BigsMallWalkforBreastCancer.aspx for a cost of $10 or complete registration the day of the walk for $15.

“Oxford Valley Mall is proud to make a difference in the community for a third consecutive year with the Big sMall Walk,” said Jim Malervy, director of mall marketing. “The event has already raised thousands of dollars for Holy Redeemer in its first two years, and we expect the total to continue to grow as more people participate.”

Coinciding with the Big sMall walk is Oxford Valley Mall’s First Annual Moms Rock! Expo hosted in conjunction with 95.7 BEN-FM and powered by First National Bank of Newtown and the Simon Kidgits Club. Area mothers will be treated to plenty of pampering, beauty tips and shopping deals including free make-up consultations from Sephora and ring polishing from Gordon Jewelers.

Additional activities include a special visit from the Philly Phanatic from 1 to 2 p.m. and appearances from guest speakers Beth Allen, owner of HIP Chicks, who will discuss self-reliance through empowerment, and Dawn Ellery, owner of Sweet Escape in New Hope, who will cover how one can embrace talents and turn them into a profitable business venture. For those looking to liven up their fitness routine, Zumba instructor Alice Brady will be present to introduce passersby to the latest workout craze.
