Neshaminy School Year Extended Due to Hurricane Sandy
The Neshaminy School District students will be going to school until June 21, 2013 due to missed days following Hurricane Sandy.
The Neshaminy School Board announced Monday, Dec. 3 that the last day of school for students will now be June 21, 2013. It was originally scheduled for June 20.
Students will also now be in school March 6 and June 20, which were supposed to be staff development days. School will also be in session May 21 when school would normally be closed for Election Day.
The last day of school for teachers will now be June 28.
Hurricane Sandy power outages and damage forced the Neshaminy School District to cancel classes for students for five days in October.
Superintendent Robert Copeland said Monday that this calendar change ensures three extra full days of instruction for students and puts the staff development days at the end of the calendar.
