Police Helicopter Used Overnight Above Levittown

Bristol Township police confirm that the helicopter was used to assist officers early Friday morning.

Residents in parts of Levittown were awoken Friday morning by a low-flying Philadelphia Police Department helicopter that was helping Bristol Township police deal with an incident.

Police Sgt. Chuck Burns said he could not elaborate on what officers were doing, but the area is safe and residents should not be fearful for their safety.

An investigation is being conducted in the area of Red Cedar and air support was called to assist, Burns said.

Residents of Colbolt Ridge, Crab Tree, Indian Creek, Quincy Hollow, Violetwood and several other sections reported hearing the police chopper over their homes just before 1 a.m.

At 1:20 a.m., Burns said that police had mostly cleared the scene in Red Cedar, but close to 1:45 a.m. a resident reported hearing a helicopter overhead again.

Due to several factors, police said they could not release more information as of early Friday morning.

Philadelphia police and state police often assist Bucks and Montgomey county agencies with air support.

Wait for the police report in the paper. No one was in any danger. You don't NEED to know.

How do you know nobody was in any danger? Do you have some information you can share? Also, why wait for the paper if you have a computer?

They don't request Philly Air and a dozen officers (plus another 5 or 6 in unmarked) for a parking violation or someone keying cars.

Was driving home at about 12 and there were police everywhere - down Edgely Road and all down Red Cedar drive. There was also a strange car sitting on the corner of my street, it was turned on and just sat there for about 5 minutes, then left; it was probably a detective. The helicopter seemed to be searching Ring Lane. From what I've heard, a murderer was on the run and hid in someone's shed & threw the weapon in someone's yard. Not sure if it is true, though.

The shed he hid in was at my neighbor's abandoned home. The yard was mine but we do not know what was thrown there. Around 5am the police came back to search our property and found whatever it was they were looking for. We have no details as well.
