A ceremony was held Tuesday evening at the Middletown Township Municipal Complex to mark the anniversary of Detective Christopher Jones' passing.

Jones died on Jan. 29, 2009 when he was struck  by a drunk driver while conducting a traffic stop just off of the I-95 interchange on Route 1. Jones, who left behind his wife and three children, was posthumously promoted to the rank of detective by the community where he worked for a decade.

In his honor, the Detective Christopher Jones Foundation raises funds to help the community and also awards scholarships to high school graduates. The scholarships go to students planning to major in criminal justice.
