An 18-year-old Lower Southampton man was arrested after he is alleged to have committed several crimes in Falls.
An 18-year-old Lower Southampton man is facing charges after an incident in Falls Township where he is alleged to have pushed a female police officer to the ground.
Duncan Mullin is charged with aggravated assault, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, resisting arrest, false identification to a law enforcement officer, hindering apprehension and related offenses.
Falls police report they were called to Danbury Road to break up a reported underage drinking party at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.
When patrol units arrived, they spotted several people jumping over a fence to flee the party, police said.
A female officer was able to catch up with three young people - one of them being Mullin - who left the party; she asked them to sit on a curb, according to an affidavit. When the 18-year-old sat down, police say, his backpack made a clanking sound.
According to police, Mullin pulled a 40-ounce bottle of beer out of the bag and poured it out. However, he did not listen to the officer’s first order to dump the entire bag out, court documents said.
The officer again asked Mullin to dump the bag out, but he said it was empty. Police said the bag was clearly not empty.
A search of the bag found what is believed to be marijuana, police said.
As the officer went to handcuff Mullin, he yelled he was not going to be restrained and pushed her backward, police said. According to the affidavit, the officer struck her head on the ground and the suspect stood over her before he ran.
Shortly after, patrol officers took Mullin into custody in the area of Standwood and Hanford roads after a chase.
He was arraigned and later released from county jail on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
