Residents around the Levittown area awoke to a light coating of snow Thursday morning.

The snow, which is part of a nor’easter, began falling in the later afternoon hours and never really stuck to major road surfaces in the region.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm advisory and a high wind advisory in anticipation of the storm. The high wind advisory was canceled before the sundown.

Some grassy surfaces and cars were covered with snow, but the majority of roadways remained clear.

PennDOT road crews could be seen spreading salt on busy area roadways as the sun began to set Wednesday evening.

The weather service forecasted a majority of the snow to be over 9 a.m. Thursday A high of 45 degrees will follow.

The storm came a little more than a week after Hurricane Sandy came through the area and caused thousands of power outages that lasted for days. Shortly before daybreak Thursday, scattered outages were reported throughout the area.

In Middletown and parts of Bristol townships, trick-or-treaters went door-to-door candy hunting Wednesday evening. Trick-or-treating in several communities was rescheduled from last week due to linger effects of the hurricane.
