More than 70,000 in the Levittown area took to the polls Tuesday to vote, according to county tabulations. President Obama easily won the popular vote in the lower portion of the county. A check of the presidential election results in local towns showed Obama also won the region in 2008. He won most towns in both elections in a landslide, data shows. Shortly after finding out he was re-elected, State Rep. John Galloway was busy making plans for Wednesday. On his agenda: Getting back to work.“Come tomorrow, we’re going to get back to work to create jobs,” the Galloway said late Tuesday night. The state representative added his “idea is to work with Republicans, Democrats and independents to brings jobs back to the district.”Galloway won the race with roughly 73 percent of the vote. After waiting in line at Village Park Elementary School in Falls, Army Sgt. Christopher McAnally was not able to vote due to a mix-up. The sergeant told Patch he last voted via absentee ballot in the 2008 election with no problems. Tuesday night, he was told by officials in Doylestown he was not registered in Bucks County. McAnally moved recently from Bensalem to Falls and did not know he had to register at his new polling spot. As the 7 p.m. hour approached, volunteers at the Obama Campaign office on Mill Street in Bristol Borough hung up the phones and took to the streets looking for voters who have yet to cast their ballot. Although no one at the campaign office would offer an official comment, the last ditch effort to get potential voters to local polls was evident. Democratic poll watcher Larry Macy spent much of Election Day standing in the gym of the Magic Cottage in Bristol Township. Around him, close to 100 people waited in a line to vote Tuesday morning. Macy, volunteering for the Democratic Party, is one of thousands of poll watchers who volunteered to ensure proper procedures are followed at polling places. Voters lined up early this morning throughout the Levittown area this morning in order to beat what they expect to be long lines later on today. In Bristol Borough, officials are characterizing turnout as “strong and steady’ at all the polling all sites. Penny Yotter, an election official at the Ancient Order of the Hibernians site on Corson Street said there are no voting issues or problems to report and so far, everything has gone smoothly. Eric David, a Pennsbury High School graduate and candidate for the 140th Legislative District, believes jobs are the biggest issue on the minds of voters in Levittown. The 35-year-old Republican candidate said he hopes to bring more business to the area and reform the state pension crisis.
