Middletown Township police on Monday reported the following retail-related incidents: A 25-year-old Yardley woman was cited for retail theft at 9:07 p.m. Friday at the Giant Food Store on New Falls Road. Merchandise was valued at $26.53. A 17-year-old was cited for retail theft at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Sears in the Oxford Valley Mall. Merchandise was valued at $26. A 72-year-old man was charged with criminal mischief at 3:21 p.m. Saturday for damaging merchandise at Macy's in the Oxford Valley Mall. 
The Pennsylvania State Police at Trevose on Monday announced the results of a DUI checkpoint it staged over the weekend. Between 11 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday at an unspecified location in Bucks County police  Arrested five drivers for DUI Cited 17 summary traffic violations Issued 11 written warnings The checkpoints are designed to keep drivers safe, police said. "The goal of a roving DUI detail is to reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related fatal and serious crashes, and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania's highways," they said in a written release. 
Middletown Township police report the following recent thefts: A log splitter valued at $1,500 was reportedly removed from a home on Tollgate Road between May 9 and May 10.  A GPS valued at $50 was reportedly removed from an unlocked Nissan parked on Longview Avenue between 10 p.m. Friday and 7:20 a.m. Saturday, police said. 
A light green Huffy Beach Cruiser bicycle with brown trim was reported stolen at 11:01 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Lafayette Street. It was valued at $125. A red Chicco umbrella stroller worth $80 was reportedly taken from DiGiuseppe Drive at 9:07 p.m. on Monday.  Police reports were provided by the Bristol Borough Police Department. 
Weekend Incidents A 53-foot refrigerated trailer was taken from the parking lot of the Dump, 1501 East Lincoln Highway sometime between Friday and Sunday, Middletown Township police said. The value of the trailer is unknown. Middletown Township police say the driver's side window of a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro parked on Secklepear Road was smashed sometime between Friday and Sunday. The owner of the car didn't list the value of the damage.  An unnamed victim reported that the valve stems on her 2012 Mazda were cut sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 9:12 a.m. Sunday, police said. Monday A 31-year-old Feasterville woman was cited for retail theft, according to Middletown Township police. Items taken from the Redner's Warehouse Market on East Lincoln Highway totaled $55, police said. Also, a 24-inch girl's mountain bicycle was taken from the rear of the Target store on East Lincoln Highway between 4:30 and 4:50 p.m. The bicycle is valued at $250, police said. 
A 10-year-old boy was riding his bike home from school when a man driving by allegedly tried to lure him in to his vehicle, according to Middletown Township Police reports. On Monday at about 3:34 p.m., police said the 10-year-old boy was riding him bike home in the area of Cardinal Road and Cobalt Drive South when a man in a vehicle stopped about 10 feet ahead of the boy and yelled out the window, "Get in the Car!" The man proceeded to drive away. The man is described as a white man in his 30's with dark, short hair, Lt. John Michniewicz said in a report. The man was driving an older four …
Police received reports of six thefts from vehicles between Friday and Sunday, according to a recent Bristol Borough police blotter. Four of the thefts took place in close proximity to one another and loose change was taken from most of the vehicles. Cars parked on the 300 block of Cleveland Street, the 300 block of McKinely, the 2000 and 2100 block of Farragut Avenue had items stolen from them, according to police reports: A black Carhart jacket, $60 in cash, three hoodies, cell phone car chargers and a CD5 worth $200 were stolen from a vehicle on the 300 block of Cleveland Street. A man claiming to have a gun walked into the 7-Eleven at New Falls Road and Veterans Highway in Levittown early Thursday morning and robbed the place, police said. No gun was displayed, but the man told the cashier he would shoot him, a press release from Middletown authorities said. The individual made off with a small amount of money and fled to the right of the store at 3:25 a.m., police said. Investigators said they believe the man may have had a getaway vehicle nearby. The Big Lots in the Bristol Plaza shopping center on Durham Road in Bristol Township was robbed Wednesday afternoon. Scanner reports indicated a white male went into the store and made off with cash. The robbery occurred just after 2 p.m. and drew a large police presence. The Bucks County Courier Times published a description on their website. According to a Patch reader, police with dogs checked the area for the suspect for nearly an hour.
A broadcast over police radio led the an arrest at gunpoint in Middletown Township Tuesday afternoon. Dustin Cullen, 26, of Philadelphia, was arrested for trying to steal a car from a gym. Police say it was not the first time it happened. A male victim had just finished his workout at the Plant Fitness in the Langhorne section of the township when he noticed the keys to the vehicle were missing, police said. Levittown residents Shawn Gruber, 21, Nicole Gruber, 20, and David B. Sherman, 21, waived their right to a preliminary hearing this week and are headed to trial. The trio are charged with criminal use of a communication facility, unlawful restraint and several other varying offenses. In late November 2012, Tullytown Borough responded to a call from a Shadetree Lane mother who stated she received a call demanding $700 to be delivered to the women's bathroom at the Taco Bell in Tullytown. Police in Bristol Borough are looking for a man who knocked a woman to the ground and stole her purse Monday night. The strong-arm robbery occurred at the Walmart on Commerce Circle at 7:31 p.m., police said. A suspect knocked the female victim to the ground and stole her purse. He then fled toward Veterans Highway (Route 431) through the Bristol Cemetery, police said. The suspect is described by officials as being a stocky black male between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7. Janio Salinas Valerda was buried alive Monday afternoon after several tons of processed sugar engulfed him inside a hopper at CSC Sugar on Roebling Road at the old U.S. Steel site in Falls Township, officials said. Bucks County Coroner Dr. Joseph Campbell ruled the 50-year-old Edgewater Park, N.J. resident’s cause of death as asphyxiation after a late Tuesday evening autopsy. Investigators said Valerda used a lift to get in the narrow bottom of the large hopper to try to clear a clog when sugar began to pour in. An 18-year-old Lower Southampton man is facing charges after an incident in Falls Township where he is alleged to have pushed a female police officer to the ground. Duncan Mullin is charged with aggravated assault, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, resisting arrest, false identification to a law enforcement officer, hindering apprehension and related offenses. A contractor working on tile inside a home in the 200 block of Doone Road in the Fairless Hills section of Falls Township was alerted to a fire by a knocking sound Tuesday night, officials said. The sound, which may have saved the contractor's life, was made by a fast-moving fire that started outside the house and quickly spread into the attic, Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said. The home was in the final stages of being renovated and a family was expected to settle in the house in a few days time, Dippolito said. Bristol Township police released more information Tuesday on the serious traffic accident that happened Sunday night at Route 13 and Edgely Road. A 69-year-old Levittown woman suffered serious injuries in the crash and had to freed by firefighters, police said. The woman was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital and remains in critical condition. The woman was driving a maroon 1996 Buick Roadmaster north on Edgely Road when a silver 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by a 27-year-old Levittown man on Route 13 struck the Buick at the intersection at 6:14 p.m., police said. Bristol Borough officers responding to reports of an intoxicated individual who fell last Wednesday morning were in for quite a surprise. An arriving patrol officer was greeted by a Bristol woman screaming obscenities and threats outside the Food Pantry on Wood Street, court documents said. Police asked her to stop and she did not, according to court documents. As the officer went inside the food store to check on the fall victim, the 23-year-old followed and was asked by police to leave. Emergency crews responded to a serious multi-vehicle accident at Route 13 and Edgely Road in Bristol Township Sunday night. Firefighters responded at around 6:15 p.m. to conduct an auto extrication at the scene, scanner reports indicated. Mulitple vehicles were reported to be invovled. The intersection was blocked for a period of time due to the crash. As of press time, no further information has been released.
A police task force made up of officers from several departments arrested a Bristol Township man and a Falls woman in connection with the theft of copper from a PECO substation. Jamie Lynn Brown and Jason Pallis, both 29, were apprehended by authorities and are accused of stealing copper wiring from Middletown’s Durham substation on Oxford Valley Road in November, according to court records filed last week. Police said the duo cut a hole in fence at the substation with bolt cutters and stole the copper ground wire. Between the property damage and missing copper, PECO took a hit of $7,000, …
