Area Schools Celebrate Veterans Day, Schuler Advances to Top 12

  • Maple Point Middle School students will welcome local veterans for their annual Veterans Day Ceremony which will include a recording of veterans’ stories, a recognition of veterans service and addresses by Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick and State Rep. Frank Farry.
  • Students in the National Junior Honor Society at Charles Boehm Middle School, along with their advisor, teacher Lynn Gordon, invite local veterans for lunch in the school library at noon. This year's guests of honor include nearly 20 who served in the US Army, Navy, and the Marines during World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. The service people bring personal artifacts, photos, and scrapbooks to share with the students, who are assigned to research the historical conflicts prior to this gathering.
  • Pennsbury grad Matthew Schuler advanced to the top 12 on NBC's reality competition The Voice. The next round of the show airs Monday at 10 p.m.
  • LevittownNow.com reports that two people were injured by a chemical spill Thursday morning at a dental implant manufacturing facility in Falls Township. The township fire marshal told LevittownNow.com that nitric acid sprayed on the two employees.
