Beef & Beer for Bristol Wardogs, 150th Anniversary for Emilie United Methodist

  • The Elks Lodge at 95 Wood St. in Bristol is hosting a Beef & Beer fundraiser Friday at 7 p.m. to benefit the Bristol Wardogs Unlimited. The undefeated team is looking to raise money for their trip in December to the UYFL Championships in Plant City, Fla. Tickets cost $25 at the door and gets visitors a buffet meal, and all you can drink beer. There will also be a cash bar, basket raffles and 50/50.
  • Sunday will mark the 150th anniversary of Emilie United Methodist Church (EUMC), beginning a year-long celebration. A 10 a.m. worship service will kick off with former Emilie Pastor Paul Dissington as guest speaker. Music will be provided by the Bell Choir, Sanctuary Choir and Praise Band.  Following the service, there will be a potluck luncheon in the Social Hall with entertainment by current and former students from Emilie Christian Day School. EUMC invites members of the community to join the celebration. Alison Angelaccio, Director of Emilie Christian Day School (ECDS) will be a special guest at the celebration on Nov. 17, to also commemorate the Day School, celebrating its 55th anniversary this year.
  • Bristol Fire Company (Station 51) encourages citizens to “Stay W.A.R.M.” and be aware that with the increased use of kitchens and heat sources, the instances of house fires also increases.  Through their seasonal campaign, “Stay W.A.R.M.,” Station 51 provides fire safety reminders to the Bristol community.
  • Sunny again today, according to the National Weather Service, with temperatures going up to 60. This leads into a warm weekend with temps in the high 50s, low 60s, ending with rain and showers Sunday night into Monday.
