DA Investigating Tullytown Tasing, Budget Season in Levittown

  • Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler has confirmed to several news sources that his office will open an investigation into the tasing of a 14-year-old boy last week. Marissa Sargeant posted images on Facebook of her son's bruised face, accusing Tullytown police officers of torture when they tased her handcuffed son while he attempted to flee from custody. According to NBC 10, Joseph Williams was one of three boys arrested last week under accusations of shoplifting from Walmart at the Levittown Shopping Center. Heckler told the Bucks County Courier Times that Williams attempted to run away toward Route 13, and officers used the stun gun to prevent him from reaching the busy roadway. LevittownNow.com reports that Sargeant met with civil rights attorney Fortunato Perri, Jr. Monday afternoon in Philadelphia and that she plans to file a complaint against the Tullytown Police Department.
  • The Neshaminy School Board meets Tuesday at the school district offices at Maple Point Middle School at 7 p.m. It's not on the agenda, but expect a discussion of the school newspaper's decision to ban the word 'Redskins' from its pages.
  • Bristol Township's proposed 2014 budget has been posted online for public review. As presented by township manager William McCauley, the proposed $48 million budget recommends no tax increase, keeping the millage rate at 23.9875 for the third straight year. The township council will consider adopting the 2014 budget on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.
  • The Falls Township board of supervisors will present the 2014 proposed budget at Tuesday's meeting at 7 p.m. at the township administration building.
  • Hopefully you took advantage of the warm weather on Monday, because Tuesday it starts getting cold. The National Weather Service says the sky will remain sunny, but with highs near 51.
