Protest Continues Over Middletown EIT, Bristol First Responders Awarded

  • A citizens group opposed to Middletown Township's adoption of a one percent earned income tax in the 2014 budget pledged to continue fighting the plan, according to its Facebook page. "(Middletown Township Taxpayers United) is considering options on how best to utilize our resources to overturn this unfair new tax aimed at the working class citizens of our community," says the statement. "In the meantime, we ask everyone reading this message to talk this issue up with your family, friends and neighbors."
  • First responders from Bristol Township were recognized for their lifesaving efforts Wednesday during a ceremony at the Bucks County Rescue Squad, LevittownNow.com reports. The firefighters performed CPR on a Levittown man who had gone into cardiac arrest on Oct. 25.
  • The Parkland Fire Company has entered a holiday photo contest to win a prize package from Pierce Manufacturing, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. To help the fire department, voters have to like the contest's Facebook page, then select the photo. Voting ends on Dec. 31.
  • Mostly sunny today, with highs near 45, according to the National Weather Service.
