Town Hall Meeting on Middletown Budget, Toys for Tots Theft Reported

  • Middletown Township will hold two separate community meetings regarding the Proposed 2014 Budget.  The first meeting will be held today at the Middletown Community Center on Trenton Road from 3–6 p.m.  The second meeting will be held Dec. 9 at the Municipal Building from 6–8 p.m. Both meetings are scheduled to follow an “open house” format, where residents will have the opportunity to move through the room to receive information regarding the budget and proposed implementation of an Earned Income Tax and will also have the opportunity to interact with elected officials to provide feedback.  
  • The Tullytown Borough Council approved the 2014 budget Tuesday night, the Bucks County Courier Times reports. There is no tax increase for the $8 million budget, which includes funding for renovations of the borough municipal building. Tullytown residents are also expected to receive their $6,000 property improvement checks in 2014, according to the report.
  • Surveillance footage shows a woman taking items out of the Toys for Tots bin at Wings-to-Go in Fairless Hills, 6abc.com reports. According to the article, the video shows a woman entering the restaurant, looking around, then pulling two toys out of the bin and leaving. The managers opted not to file a police report, telling the news station that they want the woman to keep the toys. Community members and businesses spent the rest of the day replenishing the bin to the point that it was overflowing with donations.
  • Bristol Township's annual tree lighting ceremony is this Sunday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. at the township administration building. Santa will arrive by fire truck as high school bands perform Christmas classics.
  • Partly sunny again this afternoon, with a high of 53 and possible rain later tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
