Bristol Fire Company (Station 51) Fire Chief Herb Slack Honored as Parade Grand Marshall

Bristol Borough welcomed the holiday season with its annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 30. Honored for his 39 years of hard work and service, Bristol Fire Company (Station 51) Chief Herb Slack was named Grand Marshall for the 2013 Christmas Bristol Borough Parade.

 

“I am truly honored and overjoyed,” Chief Slack explained. “This parade is one of the great traditions of Bristol Borough and I am proud to be a part of it in this manner.”

Firefighters from the surrounding area drove their trucks, flipped on their lights and blasted their sirens to roll down the parade route. Other attractions included Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the Greater Kensington String Band, cheerleaders from Truman High School and Bristol Borough High School and, of course, Santa Claus.

“We truly appreciate all [Chief Slack does] for our community,” said Linda McClain, President of the Bristol Borough Parade Committee in her invitation of Grand Marshall-ship.

 

“Every year Bristol Borough looks forward to this parade,” said Chief Slack whose granddaughter accompanied him during his ride through the parade course. “Having the chance to serve as Grand Marshall is very special to me.”
