Princeton, NJ -(Date)- Dr. Robert Meirowitz, founding member of Princeton Gastroenterology Associates in Princeton, NJ, will be receiving the Francesca Travisano Ambassador Award at Good Grief’s “Great Pumpkin Ball” on October 25, 2013. Good Grief’s mission to provide support, advocacy and education for children and teens that have lost a parent or sibling is one that hits home for Dr. Meirowitz. Driven by the death of his wife Bernadette and the two grieving teenagers she left behind, he became a leading advocate and organizer for opening Good Grief in Princeton in 2012. As a result of his efforts to ensure that no child has to grieve alone, over 30 families are already being served from the greater Princeton area. Joseph Primo, CEO of Good Grief, acknowledges the pivotal role Dr. Meirowitz has played for the grieving families in the area. "As soon as Rob learned that Good Grief existed in Morristown he dove right in and worked tirelessly to ensure that children in the Princeton area have access to support. Rob is a hero for these kids. Without his passion and hard work they would be left to grieve alone. He has made an incredible difference and we are grateful!" Dr. Meirowitz’s zeal has earned him a spot as both a Board Member and Trustee of Good Grief.
Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Meirowitz attended Johns Hopkins University, Georgetown University, New York Medical College, and the University of Maryland. He has been published in several gastroenterology journals and has received numerous honors including Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors in the New York Metro area, and he has been listed in New Jersey Top Doctor’s since the year 2000. Dr. Meirowitz also serves on the Board of Trustees at DEBRA.
The Francesca Travisano Ambassador Award celebrates the legacy and memory of one of Good Grief’s founders and a true ambassador to the cause, working tirelessly to improve the lives of grieving children and spreading the word about Good Grief wherever she went. Dr. Meirowitz embodies this dedication and determination to provide grieving families with a safe and transformative place to explore their grief journey. “I am both honored and humbled to be receiving this award from Good Grief. It is an amazing organization providing much needed safety and comfort to so many children who have already suffered tremendous losses in their life. The people I have met who are involved with this organization exhibit true compassion and are an inspiration to us all. If we are judged by the company we keep then I am very lucky to be among this stellar group of individuals. Thank you Good Grief for this honor and for all you do!”
