Trenton YMCA to Host 5K Race and 1-Mile Walk

Daniel Brenna, Chairman of the Board of the YMCA of Trenton, local businessman and real estate developer felt the organization should host a walk and run to raise awareness and needed funds to support the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, giving kids opportunities to live healthier, happier lives and grow into productive adults.

The Trenton Y5K Run and 1-Mile Walk will take place, rain or shine, on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from the parking lot in front of 50 Riverview Plaza, adjacent to Arm & Hammer Park, Route 29, Trenton.

The walk begins at 9:00 a.m. and the race at 9:30 a.m. Participants may register on-line at www.trentonY5K.com by September 15th for a reduced rate at or on-site on race day, from 7:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. Registration fee is $25 for the run before September 14th and $30 after and $20 for the walk and $25 after the 14th.

Brenna agreed to chair the event and in turn brought forward Investors Bank as the “Signature” race sponsor.  Event tee shirts will go to all participants and the post-race activities and awards ceremony will feature fun family activities, a bike rodeo, performances by the YMCA Dance Academy and much more.

“A combination run/walk makes it possible for people of all ages to participate in this event focusing on healthy living,” said Brenna.  “It is fitting this event takes place during September when attention turns to the recognition of National Obesity Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.”
