Black Bear Visits Middletown Twp. Neighborhood

'Lookin' for love in all the wrong places.'

Residents of the Zimmerman Road and Midway Avenue area of Middletown Township were treated to two black bear sightings in the past week.

The rambling ursid was doing what comes naturally in the spring: looking for a mate, according to a story on CBS 3.

"The bear has been tagged twice already and may have been put back into the wild at least once.  Police are now working with the Pennsylvania Game Commission to find this bear," the story said.

Patch reported almost exactly a year ago that Doylestown residents experienced the same thing.

"Bear sightings in ... Bucks County are not uncommon, especially in the more rural parts of townships," the story said.

The story continued with information from a Pennsylvania Game Commission report, "Continued expansion of residential development into areas occupied by black bears and wandering young adult bears in search of a place to settle have resulted in more frequent sightings and encounters between people and bears."
