Gas Prices Rise With Heat

Five county region peaks at $3.79 a gallon average.

The heat isn't the only thing that is rising this summer, gas prices are on the rise.

According to Friday's AAA Fuel Gauge Report, gas prices during the summer have risen nationally almost 40 percent from last year's highest recorded average. The 5-county region around Philadelphia, including Bucks County, is only 37 cents lower than the highest average ever recorded, which was June 2008's $4.16 a gallon.

While the prices are high, drivers in the region said they have come to accept the cost.

"(The gas prices) are definitely an annoyance, but they aren't really hurting the coffers." said Jeff Mangum, a Doylestown resident who was filling up his Chevrolet Suburban at the Langhorne Super Wawa.

According to Mangum, his vehicle can take almost $100 to fill up. Despite the high cost, it hasn't hampered any of his travel plans.
