Proms, antique cars, and bird watching make for a great weekend.

Are you ready for the weekend? We are. Luckily, it’s Thursday, and we are armed and ready with our Get Out Planner, stuffed with our top five picks for this weekend in the area.

STARPOWER AUDITIONS 

Where/When: , Saturday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Why Go: So you want to be a star, huh? Now’s your chance. This is the first round of auditions before the final June performance at Bristol Riverside Theater, where contestants will have the chance of cash prizes (four digits each!), exposure, and professional criticism.

PROM: and

Where/When: Pennsbury High School, Lower Moreland High School.

Why Go: On Saturday, stroll the legendary PHS Prom Venue and gather to watch the wacky arrival parade. On Sunday morning, Lower Moreland students participate in their annual post-prom 5K.  

Pricing: Free. 

 

KAYAKING CLASS 

Where/When: Falls Township Community Park at the boat ramp, Saturday at 10 a.m. 

Why Go: Beginner lessons for the whole family. Learn to handle the kayak and about local wildlife on the lake. 

Pricing: $15 per person, or $45 per family of up to four. Price includes professional instruction, kayak and paddles, and lifejacket. Ages 8 and up.

 

ANTIQUE CAR SHOW

Where/When: Upper Moreland Intermediate School, Saturday from 11 a.m.

Why Go: A part of Willow Grove’s Tri- Centennial celebration and Willow Grove Community day. What’s not to love about a sunny day, a car show, and fairground food?

MIGRATORY BIRD MARATHON 

Where/When: Saturday all day.

Why Go: Every May the center tries to count all the species. This year, they’re hoping for 100. Join the team, birders and beginners welcome.
