Regional Roundup: Help 2 Local Girl Scouts Earn Silver Award

: Two local girl scouts are seeking assistance from the community to ensure their project is a success. Scouts Dona Lisciotto and Emma Lambert-Waldmann have embarked on a project that involves making dresses for impoverished or orphaned girls in South Africa. The project, which has been approved by the Girl Scouts, will earn the girls their Silver Award.

: A fire at Stonington Farm Apartments in Doylestown Township damaged several of the apartments Thursday afternoon. None of the residents or firefighters were hurt battling the blaze, but residents of the damaged apartments had to find somewhere else to stay Thursday night while township officials assessed the damage to the building. Doylestown Township Police Chief Dean Logan said some of the building's 16 apartments sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

: Following more than two weeks of analyzing data, discussing various scenarios and running simulations, Centennial School District's ad hoc committee on the elementary bell schedule could not create a workable solution to the controversial issue.

: In addition to filling grocery carts at the Giant Food store on Horsham Road, shoppers will soon be able to fill their gas tanks. Kimco Realty Corp., developer of the Horsham Point shopping center - where the grocery chain, a CVS and several eateries are located - got the ok to build four gasoline pumps with eight fueling stations where a shuttered Sovereign Bank is located on Horsham and Dresher roads.

: If you have driven down County Line Road in recent weeks you may have been wondering what is going on at the formerly abandoned shell of a building located across the street from the entrance to Huntingdon Glen. Southampton residents Scott and Lori Montague recently purchased the property located at 401 County Line Road. The couple plans to turn what some have called an "eyesore" into a thriving dance academy.

: The investigation into what caused a Bensalem police cruiser to burst into flames late last month at the municipal police lot is over, authorities said. The fire that destroyed a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria police car, an adjacent employee-owned vehicle and caused minor damage to another car has been determined to be likely "electrical in nature" and no foul play is suspected, Sgt. Andy Aninsman told Patch.

: The Bucks County Veterans ID Discount Card program is back on the road and coming to Levittown.The Bucks County Recorder of Deeds staff, which administers the program, will be on hand on Saturday during the 27thAnnual Donald W. Jones Flag Memorial event in Levittown.

: A Philadelphia woman who stole from her family’s business in Lower Moreland learned her fate in Montgomery County Court. Juliett Barzilayeva, 60, of the 1600 block of Welsh Road, was sentenced to nine-to-23 months in jail after pleading guilty to a felony charge of theft by unlawful taking in connection with the thefts of $154,000 from her cousin’s company.
