West Nile Virus Found in Bristol Township Mosquitoes

Two mosquitoes in Bristol Township have tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Two mosquitoes found in Bristol Township have tested positive for West Nile Virus, according to the Pa. Department of Environmental Protection.

Officials did not say where in the township the bugs were found. They were among six "positives" announced in a press release Friday.

Pesticide spraying to knock down the mosquito population is scheduled to take place in Falls Township on Tuesday.

There were 25 human cases of West Nile in Pennsylvania last year (28th in the United States).

Residents are urged to get rid of standing water on their property where mosquitoes can breed and spread West Nile.
