Bites Nearby: Gibby's Ice Cream

The warm weather is here, that means its time for Gibby's.

Warmer weather just calls for certain things; shorts, biking, flip-flops and a run to Gibby's.

For many Levittown residents, it's not springtime until Gibby's opens its doors. The petite ice cream shack has been a staple business in the area for over 25 years and is still as good as ever.

Despite Gibby's staunch supporters, the combat in the confectionery coliseum has gotten much more fierce in recent years.

A new generation of ice cream aficionados have a lot more options to choose from; Brewster's in Bensalem and the national chain Cold Stone Creamery have encroached on local territory and brings an entirely new different hybrid ice cream delicacy to the battlefield.

The good news is that even armed with its traditional soft serve, Gibby's holds its own.

The quality of their ice cream is unmatched in the region. Soft-churned, creamy, packed with flavor and for a price that simply cannot be matched by the larger dessert chains.

The great thing about Gibby's is the variety of way you can have your ice cream. It might not have Baskin-Robbin's 31 flavors, but it holds its own with a fair selection of choices, as well as any type of cone, sprinkle or bowl you could imagine.

If you are looking for a recommendation, the best thing on the menu is their shaken malt milk shakes. Gibby's shakes are rich, thick, and simply a decadent treat for a warm Spring evening.

Gibby's is located at 4010 Veterans Highway in Levittown and is open Sunday through Thursday 12 p.m to 10 p.m and Friday through Saturday 12 p.m to 10:30 p.m.
