Bites Nearby: Knuckle Heads Ice-Cream And Grill

There aren't a lot of places where a parent can take their kids and still enjoy themselves as well. Thankfully a local restaurant is attempting to tackle that very problem.

Knuckle Heads Ice-Cream and Grill is a bit of an enigma. It's a family friendly restaurant that's trying to appeal to both an older generation, while at the same time attending to their kids.

For the tykes, Knuckle Heads provides arcade cabinets, carnival-styled games, air hockey tables and even occasionally a family-friendly movie on a large-screen TV. For the parents, Knuckle Heads provides a large selection of fresh food that, unlike many family-oriented restaurants, actually don't taste like they were made from cardboard.

Knuckle Heads has a rather distinct, if eclectic, atmosphere. The walls are covered from top to bottom with nostalgic posters and trinkets. The restaurant itself looks like a high school cafeteria which was ripped straight from a early 90s TV show set -- you almost expect to see Screech and the gang from Saved By the Bell hanging out at a table in the corner. The theme of the restaurant is all about bright neon colors and chrome -- chrome everywhere. It's a style that you're likely to have not seen before and ultimately really heightens your eating experience.

The menu is your standard creature comforts -- expect fries, burgers, pizzas and cheese steaks. The menu's real highlight is its appetizer “Spudspertizers,” a custom concoction which Knuckle Heads boasts as “over one pound of potatoes.”

If you have kids that are bored and you have a craving for some greasy goodness, Knuckle Heads makes a fine destination for a weekend treat.
