Garden of Eatin Now Stands Alone

Moving from a shopping center to a single building has opened up new possibilities for the owners of the almost 30-year-old restaurant.

With just a move down the road, Garden of Eatin owners Luda and Ahmet Zeka expect big things for their restaurant. By leaving their previous location in a shopping center to a standalone building at 964 Woodbourne Road, Garden of Eatin has more space to accomodate the Zekas' plans.

"We are going to expand into banquets with our second floor," Luda Zeka said. "When the renovations are finished, we can accommodate 250 people, or partition the rooms for smaller parties."

The surroundings may have changed, but Zeka plans to keep everything else the same at Garden of Eatin, including its family friendly menu that uses locally grown ingredients. The Zekas bought the business from the previous owners 25 years ago and watched it turn into a town favorite.

"We've built up great loyalty with our regular customers," Zeka said. "We've kept the menu the same, nice-sized portions at reasonable prices. Many of our servers have been with us for years."

The banquet space is expected to open in the late summer/early fall.
