A Shih Tzu was killed in a house fire on Wisteria Lane in the Willowood section of Falls Township Monday night.
Fire crews arrived to the house on the corner of Wisteria Lane and Willow Drive at 7:20 p.m. to find heavy flames coming from the one-story structure, officials said.
Township Fire Marshal Richard Dippolito said crews went into service and had the fire under control before 8 p.m.
No injures were reported and the residents were not home at the time, Dippolito said.
Investigators are eyeing the fireplace as the point of origin for the fire, which started in a rear sunroom addition, Dippolito told Patch.
Residents stood in the below-freezing temperatures Monday night and watched as the firefighters fought the blaze.
Crews from Falls, Fairless Hills, Edgely, Levittown No. 1 and Levittown No. 2 fire companies responded to the scene. Falls police and the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad also reported.
