Happy Leap Day Levittown

What will you do with the extra day?

It's been four years since the last time it was Feb. 29, and we have Julius Caesar to thank for that.

Caesar created the Leap Year during the Roman empire to help maintain the seasonal changes every year. Leap Years are needed to keep the calendar in alignment with the Earth's revolutions around the sun, according to timeanddate.com. It takes the Earth roughly 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds to revolve around the sun once, which is why the Gregorian calendar has 365 days.

If Feb. 29 wasn't added every four years, we would lose six hours a year -- which would end up throwing our calendar off by 24 days every 100 years. The next leap year will be in 2016.

Now that you know the day is kind of a big deal, what to you plan to do to celebrate? Tell us in the comments.
