Local Boston Marathon Runners 'Safe and Well'

As many as 10 runners from a local running club were in the Boston Marathon but all are safe after Monday's bombings, Bucks County Speedsters Vice President Harris Brenner said.

As many as 10 people from a local running club participated in the Boston Marathon and all are safe and well, said Harris Brenner, Vice President of the Bucks County Speedsters running club.

Two explosions occurred near the marathon finish line Monday around 3 p.m., killing at least three people and injuring more than 130.

The Speedsters club is an extension of the Bucks County Road Runners. Brenner said between the Speedsters and the Road Runners there were as many as 10 people at the Boston Marathon, plus their friends and families who came to watch.

“All members are safe and well,” Brenner said.

He said some marathon participants have made it home to Bucks County while others are still in Boston.

“Having run Boston just last year and having many friends up there this event certainly hit very close to home,” Brenner said.

According to Fenway-Kenmore Patch, an 8-year-old boy is among those who died in the bombings. The boy, Martin Richard of Dorchester, was reportedly at the race to watch his father, Bill, run the marathon. His mother and sister were also reportedly injured in the explosions.

The FBI has issued a national tip line for any information related the bombings. Anyone with information can call 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324), and select prompt #3. "No piece of information or detail is too small," the FBI said in a press release.

At a press conference Monday night, President Barack Obama said, "We still do not know who did this or why. People shouldn’t jump to conclusions until we have all the facts…We will find out who did this and we will hold them accountable.”
