Levittown Crews Ready For Expected Winter Storm

The latest forecast for Levittown greatly increased the amount of snow predicted in this weekend's winter storm. Crews in Falls and Middletown say they are ready for the storm.

Public Works crews in Falls and Middletown townships are preparing for nor'easter set to bear down on the region this weekend.

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service predicts 3 to 7 inches of snow between Friday and Saturday morning. A trace amount of ice is also possible.

That is a radical change from earlier forecast, which predicted far less snow for the Lower Bucks County region.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for southeast Pennsylvania, including the Doylestown area on Thursday afternoon.

In Falls, Public Works Director Joe Arnao said crews would be working Friday morning to get all the equipment ready for the impending snow.

“Cars will always be a problem and we ask that residents remove them from the street” during snow storms, Arnao said. He added that plows can make their way through the narrow Levittown with ease if they don’t have to go around cars.

Road crews in Middletown spent Thursday preparing the township’s roughly 12 trucks for brining and snow removal operations, Public Works Director Erich Wendel said.

Crews in both communities have large stockpiles of salt at their disposal for this storm.

Middletown will have 400 tons in their sheds by the time the storm hits and Falls is expected to used “several hundred” tons of salt during the course of the entire winter, the directors said.

Both officials said their crews would be out until the snow is cleared.
