Middletown Man Nabbed for Child Porn by New Britain Police

A 67-year-old Middletown man, who allegedly had more than 1,000 pictures and videos of child pornography, surrendered to New Britain Township police Friday.

A New Britain Township police officer, working with the FBI, used an undercover online identity to infiltrate a child-porn file-sharing network, according to police.

NBCnews.com reports that the investigation, last year, led to Stuart Fenster, 67, of Middletown. The officer had downloaded files from the network of suspected child pornography, and then traced the files through host computers to Fenster.

When his computer was seized last year, he allegedly told police he knew possession of child pornography was wrong, but said he didn't believe it was "egregious," according to Phillyburbs.com.

Forensic analysis of the computer came up with more than 1,000 images and videos of child pornography, many involving prepubescent children.

The charges of possession of child pornography, dissemination of photos or videos depicting child sex acts and criminal use of communications equipment were filed March 5. Fenster surrendered Friday morning, and was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Robert A. Schnell Jr. in New Britain Township. A preliminary hearing will be held May 3.
