Route 13 Lane Restrictions Begin Tuesday

The work is part of PennDOT's improvement of Route 13 by reconstructing approximately 4.3 miles between New Rodgers Road and the Levittown Parkway.

Motorists on northbound and southbound Route 13 (Bristol Pike) will encounter long-term, single lane traffic patterns and a traffic pattern shift beginning Tuesday, March 26, between the Levittown Parkway and Mill Creek Road in Bristol Township and Tullytown Borough.

Crews will work over the next week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to install concrete barriers to provide one lane in each direction on the southbound side of Route 13. Drivers are advised to allow additional time for travel through this construction area. This traffic pattern will in place through the end of August.

As a result of the traffic pattern, the Fallsington Ave. ramp from southbound 13 will be closed. This will affect those who use Fallsington Ave. to access the SEPTA Levittown station. The posted detour will take traffic up to the Haines Rd. jughandle where they will be directed to make a left onto Haines and a left back onto northbound 13. This ramp will be closed until Aug 22, 2013.

PennDOT’s contractor will work the next two and half years to enhance travel and safety along this 4.3-mile stretch of Bristol Pike by rehabilitating the deteriorated pavement; replacing drainage facilities that date back to the 1940s; building sidewalks for pedestrians; installing medians; removing jug handles; reducing travel speeds; and implementing traffic calming measures.

James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the $36,527,577 project that is financed with 100 percent federal funds. The entire project is expected to finish in October 2015.
