Tractor-Trailer Crashes Into Home, Several People Trapped

A tractor-trailer hit a home in what appears to be a chain-reaction crash that also trapped several people.

Route 1 southbound was closed for a short time Monday after a tractor-trailer hit a home in what appears to be a chain-reaction crash that also trapped several people.

The crash was reported shortly before 10:45 a.m. Monday at Route 1 and Hulmeville Road in Middletown Township, according to Breaking News Network reports.

A tractor-trailer struck a car in the southbound lanes overturning the car into the northbound lanes. That caused a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes to crash into a home in Langhorne, knocking it off its foundation and causing heavy structural damage, according to reports.

Four rescue companies and multiple ambulances were dispatched for several people who were trapped following the crash. The extent of injuries, conditions, the identities and number of victims were not immediately known.

According to reports, a fuel leak from the saddle tank of the tractor trailer was also reported. The status of cleanup on this was not immediately known.

Southbound Route 1 was closed and reopened shortly after 12 p.m., according to reports.
