Campbell Out as Democrats Win Pennsbury School Board Seats

Republicans in Middletown Township will fill all five seats on the Board of Supervisors in January. Incumbents in the Bristol Township School District all held onto their seats.

His crusade against public unions may have earned Pennsbury Republican school board member Simon Campbell some state-wide attention, but his sentiments do not appear to have resonated enough with local voters.

With all 23 Pennsbury voting district reporting, the Bucks County website has unofficially projected that Campbell (2,904) has been unseated, falling with Region 1 running mate Susan Simon (2,871) to Democrats Debra Wachspress (3,153) and Joshua Waldorf (3,008).

Democratic nominees in Pennsbury's Region 3 also emerged victorious, as Alison Smith (2,530), a Republican who crossfiled as a Democrat for the primary, and Debra DeBlasio (2,337) took the two seats up for grabs from challengers Casey Lawrence (2,275) and Skip Tenney (2,142).

In the Bristol Township School District, all four incumbent board members held on to their seats. Katherine Bachman (4,127), who crossfiled, and Democrats Frederick Black (2,306), Angela Nober (2,381) and James Baker, Jr. (2,330) will each serve on the school board for another four year term.

In the Neshaminy School District, school board candidates Scott Congdon (2,500), Mike Morris (2,617), Irene Boyle (4,365) and Ron Rudy (3,830) all ran unopposed and won four-year terms.

Only one seat on the Falls Township Board of Supervisors was on the ballot, and Democrat Jeff Boraski (2,662) is the projected winner over Republican challenger Andrew Dell (2,310). Boraski will take the place of Jonathan Snipes, who did not run for re-election this year.

The rest of the Democratic ticket did well in Falls Township, with Kiimberley Scarpiello (2,897) defeating Kieran Halpin (2,103) for tax collector and John Ryba (2,545) overcoming a challenge from Jamie Falkevitz (2,166) for township auditor.

Bob Lewis, Jr. (3,897) and Republican Craig Bowen (3,008) held onto their seats on the Bristol Township Council, but Democrat Tony Tucker (2,522) was not so lucky. Cynthia Murphy (3,926) and John Monahan (2,883) took the other two council seats up for election.

In Middletown Township, it's an all Republican Board of Supervisors as William Oettinger (3,734) joins incumbent H. George Leonhauser (3,490), defeating Democrats Melissa Kitzmiller (3,205) and Richard Nuttall (2,799).

The Tullytown Democratic candidates all ran unopposed. Borough Mayor J. David Cutchineal (342) will serve another four-year term, along with Matt Pirolli (317), Richard Adams (301) and Mary Ann Gahagan (274). They are joined by new member Holly Kettler (276).
