Did You Vote Today, Yet?

Local voters are slowly but steadily heading into their neighborhood polling places throughout the Levittown area Tuesday morning.

Party representatives outside the Middletown municipal building said turnout has been surprisingly high for that particular district. Julie Smith, vice chair of the Middletown Democratic Committee, could not point to any particular issue driving the turnout.

"There is not a hot-button topic this year," said Smith. "I think it's more philosophy-driven. People are tired of canceled meetings and a board filled with only Republicans."

In nearby Falls Township, the polling place at Pennsbury High School's West campus has seen approximately 70 voters as of 10:30 a.m., with a local pollster expecting about 10 percent turnout.

"In terms of the (Pennsbury) school board, I think people will want to keep the status quo," said one Republican volunteer who asked to remain anonymous. "We've had three years of no tax increases. Voters will to want to upset the apple cart."
