CARES Provides Free Pet First Aid Course for Local Pet Parents

Pet parents are invited to attend a free pet first aid course on Saturday, May 18 from 10am to 2pm at CARES in Langhorne.

Would you know what to do if your dog had a seizure, or if your cat was unable to breathe properly? Do you know how to find your pet’s pulse or take their temperature? The Center for Animal Referral and Emergency Services (CARES) will address these questions and other important first aid topics during a free course on Saturday, May 18 from 10am to 2pm at our facility in Langhorne, Penn.

The free Companion Animal First Aid Course, led by Suzanne M. Dempsey, DVM, DACVECC (Emergency & Critical Care) of CARES, will teach pet parents how to assess their pet’s condition, recognize indicators of distress, take their pet’s temperature and find their pet’s pulse. Pet parents will also learn what to do in common emergency situations, including if their pet gets hit by a car, eats something poisonous, has a seizure, or can’t walk or breathe normally, among many others.

In addition to a Q&A with CARES’ Emergency & Critical Care veterinary staff, the first aid course will provide attendees the opportunity to meet the public officials who protect their pets as well as other pet lovers in the community. Attendees will also enjoy light snacks and receive a free pet first aid kit.
