94.5 WPST To Host Pennsbury Senior Prom Parade

Local radio station 94.5 PST will make an appearance at the parade of the "Best Prom in America."

Forget Memorial Day. Forget the Fourth of July. Ask anyone around the Pennsbury School District and they will say that the most exciting parade takes place on the day of Pennsbury's Senior Prom.

Every May, the seniors and their dates show up at the East Campus of PHS as if it is a red carpet affair. Rather than the traditional limo or party bus, the attendees ride in on floats, firetrucks, trolleys, horse-drawn carriages, you name it. The crazier, the better at Pennsbury Prom. Seniors continuously search for the most memorable ways to arrive.  The parade of seniors begins at the West Campus and travels down the access route between the two buildings, right along the "path."

This show-stopping precursor to the prom has become quite a to-do with the community and has earned Pennsbury Prom the title of "Best Prom in America" from Reader's Digest. This year, the school is kicking it up a notch for the parade by adding a new element to the event. Toni Ryan, on-air personality from 94.5 PST and host of PST's More Music Workday, will be on-location as an MC for the event.

Alongside Ryan will be English teacher and annual MC of Pennsbury Sports Nite, Dan Mahoney. The two will be running a show comparable to Seacrest's red carpet coverage. They will be providing commentary on the prom-goers and their forms of arrival as well as entertainment for the massive crowds that will inevitably come out to watch. For some student perspective, Chris Glennie and Ryan Perkins, Class of 2011, will be assisting the MCs with information on the students and various floats. The event will be DJed by Will Nealy, a member of the band Sinclarity which performed at Pennsbury Prom in 2011.

This partnership with WPST was made possible by English department chair Mary Ann Daley and was funded by the Strawberry Fields Forever environmental club.

The live commentary of the parade will add excitement for the attendees and fun for their fans lining the parade route. Join the fun on May 19 at in Fairless Hills and support this nationally-famous prom.

WPST will be there with the PST prize wheel for some fan interaction from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. leading up to the parade which will kick off at 5:30 p.m. The No. 1 Prom in America will live up to its name in 2012 and Pennsbury's prom parade is sure to be the best one yet.
