5 Tips you need to know for better goal achievement in '13!

Make it a productive 2013

Written by: Kellyann Schaefer, Task Complete, www.yourtaskcomplete.com

It's that time of year again...You know what it is... It's Goal setting time!

This is the time of year that we look forward to that fresh new calendar... a landscape of dreams and possibilities...

Have you set goals for yourself this year? Whether you call them goals or resolutions, the idea is you are resolving to do, become, or accomplish these things in your mind you desire the most...

So then, how can we increase our chances of success? Let's discuss!

  1. Be specific:

All goals in life are better achieved if you are specific and not vague.

For ex: "be organized" is not as powerful as saying "I
resolve to have my desk organized by March 1st". By being specific,
you can create a strategic plan with specific actions.

  • Write it down:

By writing your goals down, and making them visible daily you are more
likely to be successful because you have a daily reminder. This in turn
helps you see it, think about it, and feel it often. The visibility
becomes a daily reminder of your greatest desires. Making a vision board
and posting it in your office is a great way to ask yourself
daily..."Is what I'm doing right now a path to achieving my
         goals?"

  • Be accountable:

Being accountable to only ourselves is a set up for disaster. Have you
ever crossed off a deadline only to replace it with a later date? Join a
group or even one other person and have them hold you accountable. Having
an accountability partner helps keep you focused and on Target.

  • Be realistic:

Someone once told me "strive for excellence, not perfection"
(tell that to a perfectionist personality! E-Gads!) Be realistic with your
timeframes; don't set unrealistic expectations. We often fail to realize
how much time or skill some projects may actually require.
  • Ask for help:

Learning how to delegate under the right conditions not only frees up so much
of your time, but ultimately helps you accomplish more and spend your time more
wisely on those things that require your specific skills. By not delegating,
you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, stressed and not focusing on the
    important things.

I would like to say it was amazing watching these future Hall of Famers at 8 years old fightingRead More through the weather and playing the 5 games in 2 days. They were tougher than many of the adults! I remember my days with Levittown American Little League playing in the 8-9 year old division and these boys would have taken us out! It would not have been close. Great Job to all and Congrats to Team Neshaminy...do you know how hard it is to say that as a Pennsbury Grad? I look forward to the next tournament!
