Donald McCormick, Sr., 86, Original Levittown Homeowner

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. in Levittown.

Donald J. McCormick Sr. died at his home in Levittown, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. He was 86.

Born in Philadelphia, Don was a 1945 graduate of North Catholic High School.

Don proudly served his country in the US Navy.

He was an original Levittown homeowner and was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Church Parish.

Don was a managing supervisor in the Chemical Manufacturing industry for many years. He continued his career working for the Pennsbury School District for 17 years.

Don was an avid sports fan, especially of baseball. He was one of the founders of Levittown Continental Little League.

He was always supporting his children and grandchildren in all their sports activities and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. He also enjoyed fishing at Levittown Lake and trips to the Jersey Shore.

Most importantly, Don was a man of honesty, integrity and had a very strong work ethic.

Don was predeceased by his son, Kenneth.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marie L. (Canning). Don was the loving father of Donald Jr. of Hatboro, Dennis J. of Yardley, Kevin P. (Beth) of Levittown, Susan L. of Saint Petersburg, FL and Donna M. McCormick Miller (James IV) of Newtown; the devoted grandfather of Michelle Meehan (Paul), Kristin Miller (Scott), Megan Long (Tom), Kenny, Kevin Jr., Christopher and Sean McCormick, J and Erick Miller; and the proud great grandfather of Kieran, Ryan and Gavin Meehan, Ellie and Abbey Miller, Kaylee McCormick and Christopher McCormick Jr. He will also be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law, Judy McCormick.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, Levittown, followed by the Rite of Committal in Resurrection Cemetery. There will be no calling hours on Saturday morning.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to St. Mary Medical Center Foundation, Langhorne-Newtown Road, Langhorne, PA 19047.
