Attempted Copper Theft Threatens Veterans Day Ceremony

The headquarters of the Delaware Valley Vietnam Veterans lost power after attempted copper thieves cut wires to the transformer.

The members of the Delaware Valley Vietnam Veterans have spent weeks preparing for Monday night's ceremony honoring veterans, but those plans almost popped the night before, according to a report from 6ABC.com.

According to the report, the DVVV's facility on Coates Ave. lost power Sunday night after suspected copper thieves cut wires to the transformer. 6ABC.com reports that PECO and a local electrician resolved the issue and tonight's program will continue as planned.

At 7 p.m., orange balloons will be released into the sky in memory of Vietnam veterans afflicted with Agent Orange-caused diseases.
