Officials: Middletown Home Likely 'Uninhabitable' After Blaze

When firefighters arrived to 517 Parkview Avenue, heavy smoke was pouring out of every one of the home's windows, Parkland Fire Company Assistant Chief William Davis said.

Minutes later, witnesses said it was clear that heavy flames had taken control of the front portion of the two-story home.

"From where I was, I could see the flames shooting out of the windows," neighbor Marie English said. "It was scary to watch."

In less than 30 minutes, Davis said fire crews from several area departments had knocked the flames down and the fire marshal's investigation had begun.

Neighbors said a woman taking a walk spotted smoke coming from the home at around 9:20 a.m. and alerted a Parkview resident who called 911.

The suffered heavy fire damage on the first floor and smoke damage on the second floor, Davis told Levittown Patch. Officials believe the home to be uninhabitable.

The Middletown Fire Marshal's office has not yet determined the cause of fire.

Firefighters from Langhorne-Middletown Fire Co., Penndel Fire Co., Newtown Fire Association and assited Parkland firefighters. Also, members of the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad responded.
