Christmas Eve Thefts Reported in Middletown
Items were taken from two cars parked at Toys R Us during the afternoon of Christmas Eve, Middletown police report.
The Middletown Police Department reported a couple thefts from cars that occurred on Christmas Eve. Two of those thefts happened at the Toys R Us parking lot in the afternoon. At 3 p.m. on Dec. 24, police say a thief stole a $200 purse containing medication from a 2009 Dodge. Approximately 90 minutes later, someone smashed the window of a 2013 Mazda and took a laptop computer and accessories, total value $300.
According to police, sometime between 11:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and 10:45 a.m. Dec. 24, a thief entered an unlocked car parked on Old Mill Drive and removed a $1,200 Louis Vuitton purse.
Other crimes reported in Middletown last week include:
- A baby Jesus was removed from a manger display on a resident's home on Maple Point Drive sometime between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The statue is valued at $350.
- A cell phone theft was reported Friday at approximately 5 p.m. According to police, the victim's $600 iPhone 5 was taken from a kiosk at the Oxford Valley Mall.
- While shopping at the Giant Supermarket at Summit Trace Sunday afternoon, a victim left her wallet in the shopping cart. When she went back to retrieve the wallet, it was gone. Total value of wallet and contents is $400.
- Sometime between 1:30 and 3:30 AM on Dec. 27, police say that someone cut the wires on Christmas lights at a residence on Red Rose Way. The damage is valued at $30.
