Cops: Man in Custody Allegedly Attempted to Urinate on Bristol Officers

A Morrisville man arrested for public drunkenness has been accused of attempting to urinate on Bristol officers and overflowing his holding cell's toilet, damaging the computer room in the basement.

What started as a relatively routine late night arrest for public drunkenness turned into serious damage to the computer room at the Bristol Township headquarters early Monday morning.

Michael McCarthy, 31, of Morrisville, has been charged with felony counts of aggravate assault by a prisoner and institutional vandalism after he managed to cause some trouble from his holding cell at the Bristol Township police department.

According to the affidavit, McCarthy was taken into custody after he was arrested for public drunkenness at the Edgely Inn late Sunday night/ early Monday morning.

While in his holding cell, McCarthy began to urinate through the cell block bars in an attempt to hit the officers on duty, the criminal complaint reports. When he finished, police say McCarthy placed some of his clothing into the toilet, causing it to overflow down into the computer room in the basement. According to the report, the computer room had visible signs of damage to computers and the ceiling.

Police say they were forced to taser McCarthy when he refused to stand  up for his photograph. He has been remanded to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent payment of $30,000 bail. McCarthy's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Feb. 12 before District Judge Joanne Kline.
