Donations Being Collected for Officer Killed in Collision

The DUI and homicide investigation into the death of Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer Brian Lorenzo has led police to T.G.I. Friday's in Bensalem, according to reports.

 

John Leck Jr., 48, of Levittown was drinking at in Bensalem before Leck, allegedly drunk, struck and killed a Highway Patrol Officer on Sunday morning, according to NBC10.

Leck was driving a gray Audi, reports indicate, in the wrong direction on I-95 at 3:15 a.m., when he struck Philadelphia Officer Brian Lorenzo, 48, who was on his way home, riding his police motorcycle.

T.G.I. Friday's sent NBC10 this statement Monday:

‘This is a very tragic incident, and our condolences are with the relatives and friends of Officer Lorenzo. The company is currently conducting an internal investigation and is cooperating fully with the authorities. Our employees are committed to the responsible service of alcohol in all of our restaurants.’

Leck was in custody Sunday at Aria-Torresdale Hospital where he had foot surgery after the accident. He is charged with homicide by vehicle and DUI-related offenses.

Lorenzo, a decorated officer who served Philadelphia for 23 years, is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda, and their three children.

The Fraternal Order of Police, Philadelphia Lodge #5 has set up a memorial fund for Lorenzo’s family at the Police and Fire Federal Credit Union in the name on "Brian Lorenzo Memorial Fund.” The account number is 84157201.

Donations for his family can be taken at any PFFCU branch, or PFFCU members can make transfers directly by phone at 215-931-0300.

A viewing is scheduled on Thursday evening at Givnish Funeral Home in Northeast Philadelphia, and there will be a mass for Officer Lorenzo Friday at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Center City, according to CBSPhilly.
