First responders are searching along the Neshaminy Creek in Bensalem and the Croydon section of Bristol for a missing 73-year-old woman.

The search for Jean Carson began late Wednesday night with police, local fire company boat teams and the Philadelphia Police Department's air unit.

Crews from Bensalem, Bristol and Lower Southampton returned to the creek at daybreak Thursday to resume searching for the missing woman.

According to Bensalem police, Carson went missing from the rear of home, which abuts the Neshaminy Creek, in the 900 block of Haunted Lane in Bensalem just after 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

After not returning for about 15 minutes, a police press release said, an "extensive" search was called. Over 65 emergency service personnel took part in Wednesday night's operation that searched the surrounding land and creek.

Authorities were forced to terminate the search due to the low visibility that crews encountered in the dark.

Police state that Carson is 5-foot-3 and 120 pounds with blond hair blue eyes. She was last scene wearing a black and blue shirt, dark pants and high heels. The 73-year-old is not known to suffer from any preexisting medical or mental issues.
